It’s that time of year again, when writers roll up their sleeves and settle in for a month of serious writing. We set lofty word-count goals, gather our notes, clear our calendars, and pull up our chairs; certain that we have a best seller banging around in our heads and Camp NanoWrimo is just the motivator we need to get ‘er done.

Last year was my first year at camp and I’m happy to report that I met and surpassed my goal of 30,000 words and the ultimate outcome was Dust of Earth; Episode one of the Quest of the Guardians series which was published on Valentine’s Day, 2016. This year, I’ve set that goal again, but this time I’m working on Drop of Water; Episode two of the Quest of the Guardian series. I’ve already written over 15,000 words and camp is starting at exactly the right time as the guardians leave the familiarity of Arh’et and launch into the unknown realm of Tav’res on a three hundred year old boat.

With a mix of excitement and trepidation, I look forward to the next 30 days of high pressure writing. I can’t wait to see how our group of landlubber heroes cope with life at sea while they encounter creatures beyond their imagination in their quest for the next piece of the Te’eta.

All aboard, mates!
